Not every newborn likes to sleep!

Not every newborn likes to sleep!

Exactly as the title says, not every newborn likes to sleep! Normally the newborn babies (babies younger than 14 days) fall a sleep after drinking their milk. Or at least fall a sleep after a hour of curious looking at the camera. But this little girl just didn’t. I love my job and I love catching moments of every person/child/baby the way they are. The same for this shoot, it was so cute how this little girl kept on looking at the camera. We’ve been shooting for almost 3 hours and the most of the time she wanted her pacifier and just lay at her side and watch. Ofcourse I don’t force babies in to any poses during a shoot. So if it doesn’t go naturally to put the baby in to a pose (when she works against) you just shouldn’t do that! Always think about the babies needs, comfort and safety first. So this was a total different newborn shoot, luckily I made the parents very happy and this pictures also make me smile! Isn’t she adorable?

A small work update

A small work update

Here is some of the work I made in the past few weeks.

The model in the beauty portraits is Lonneke Vugs and the hairstylist Simone den Ouden I did the make-up, styling and photography.

In the other pictures you can see a very cute little baby boy. He has been in the hospital in the first weeks of his life, a hard time for his parents, sister and the poor little boy himself ofcourse. I gave the family a free photoshoot so they have some nice pictures of their beautiful boy outside of the hospital!

Last week I made pictures with Chlóë Matanja, she’s a model who has just started with photography as well and is located in Groningen, just like me. I offered myself as test model, but I also asked if I could take pictures of her. And I could, I just love these results, isn’t she pretty?

What’s your purpose of life?

What’s your purpose of life?

One thing I’m always thinking about is what are we human beings living for? People around me always seem to be in a rush, have many, many obligations and don’t seem to enjoy their life as much as they should. They work to live… and they live to survive instead of live to make the best of a life. And yes I have to admit I’m also quilty for getting in to the daily grind quite often. Lately I started to think about my wishes again, what do I want? What am I living for? I’m not living to only serve the society by earning money and spending it again so the cirkle goes on and on and on…. no I want more! I want to discover, enjoy and create my own adventures, I want to be free as a bird.

Flower lady

Flower lady

2 months ago I made some pictures of Gea Veenstra again (she also was one of the first models I’ve worked with). This time I wanted to go back to where I began. A more simplify kind of style. And because I love flowers and soft colors I had to use something with that beautiful soft atmosphere again.

Curious about our older pictures I made of Gea? Check out this album!

The place they call home

The place they call home

The place they call home is a story based on the daily situation in Botshabelo in Magaliesburg, South Africa.

The differences of supply in primary needs are huge in this world. Every human has the need for food, a place to sleep, safety, health, love and learning. But not everyone is provided well. What I’ve seen in South Africa is that people stay positive in an amazing way, most of the people seem quite happy and we can see this as inspiration, but also as a sign to help. Why? That’s the part you will see in the reportage (video) we’ve made and which will be online soon.

Here you can find more about the Botshabelo community, the amazing initiative of Marion and Con Cloete.

“The greatest glory in living
lies not in never falling,
but in rising every time we fall.”
― Nelson Mandela
